A Personal Vision for 2014

Slide1In the month of January, we talked about vision. There is no doubt that the bible speaks of the importance of having a God-given vision and focus. Perhaps the most popular verse on vision in the bible is Proverbs 29:18. The HCSB phrases it like this:

“Without revelation (or vision) people run wild, but one who listens to instruction will be happy.”

Now, I’m used to seeing this verse when churches need to build new buildings or start new programs. However, if you look closely, you realize that the vision is not that at all. I mean, think about it…

“Without a bigger building with more lights and stages people will run wild…”
“Without a bigger program in our church with another person on staff to run it the people will run wild…”

Listen, the people in our city are already running wild and these things are not saving their souls and changing their hearts. I believe we need a vision of GOD. Ultimately, for us, this would be The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here are some observations:

  1. Without a personal vision of The Gospel, your life is going to run wild this year.
  2. Without a vision of Jesus Christ in Impact Church, Northern VA is going to continue to run wild this year.

Lock yourself up in a “prayer closet” and BEG God to give you a vision of Jesus Christ. Confess your short comings and sins. Talk to God very bluntly about your fears, insecurities and doubts. Refuse to leave your knees until God excites the inner most parts of your heart and calls you to a holy ambition.

We need a personal vision of Jesus Christ in 2014.
