As these last few weeks at Impact Church have shown, what we think about disciples, the church, and our responsibilities to both can often be misguided, or not centered on the gospel. If you are discipling someone, you are….
- asking the right questions
- intentionally giving your time
- doing it in the context of the local church
- not supposed to “win” it, just bear witness to it
- leading someone like Jesus led
In these days leading up to Easter, our responsibility to bring the gospel is paramount. Remember that eight out of ten people that you ask to come to church will attend on Easter sunday. Remember we are not told to send, but to go. Remember that in all these things that the Lord gives us to do, he has control! We do not have the power to save, only the duty to show; there is nothing we stand to lose in pursuing people for Christ, and they have everything to gain.
“For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing, imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.” -II Corinthians 8:4-5
